Today's Highlights
I know I've said this before about other stops on the tour, but I was really looking forward to our visit to the lakes and I was not disappointed! It was just as magical as I had imagined, here were the best parts of today:
- Easy access to the park, we literally walked out of our hotel and into the park - it was the perfect way to get an early start and beat some of the crowds
- A peaceful walk along the boardwalks of the upper lake - there were barely any other tourists about
- Crystal clear aquamarine lakes and crashing falls. The water was so clear, you could easily see right to the bottom of the lakes and the waterfalls were spectacular
- Lunch in the park at picnic tables with friends. Pro-Tip: If you don't mind carrying it in, a picnic lunch is perfect for the park
- Making it all the way to the top of the view point of the waterfall in the lower lakes, it really didn't look that high up from the ground!
- After a chilly morning in the park, Split was warm and sunny - just perfect for strolling and exploring the town which was full of live music and folks out enjoying the evening
- An awesome dinner at Šperun restaurant with abundant antipasti and table-side fish service. Oh my goodness, if you ordered the lasagna, I hope you packed your hollow leg with you because the portion is simply massive.
Activity Tracking
Today we took on a downward hike/stroll of the park, snapping pictures and pausing to drink in the beauty as we walked across the boardwalked paths.
Arriving in Split, the hotel is a bit out from the harbor, but still a really manageable walk and one that is definitely needed after the oversized dinner portions!
Tonight our room was on the 4th floor of the hotel tonight so I was able to pick up a few extra flights of stairs by avoiding the elevator.
Totals for the day: 22,054 steps, 68 flights of stairs
